Ideas and resources for ages 7-11

This is a very practical and entertaining compendium by Trevor Millum of stimulating ideas designed to help English teachers make the most of their ICT resources.

Accompanied by a CD containing relevant texts and resources for immediate use, it outlines simply and clearly activities which can employ computers imaginatively for both introducing and practising a variety of English skills.

All the activities are carefully referenced to NLS objectives and include areas such as:

scaffolding pupils' own writing (Frameworks)

analysing form and sequence (Transformations)

investigating language at word, sentence and texts level (Investigations)

There are also useful sections on using PowerPoint and whiteboards – and generally making sensible use of the software and hardware teachers have available.

Primary school teachers may well have seen Trevor's 20 Things to do with a Word Processor (co-author, Chris Warren – also available from Resource Education) and wished for a similar volume dedicated to the primary years. Here it is!
