Configuring RESOURCE software

Most software titles from Resource Education share a number of standard features:

An About box

A Configurations Editor

Talk·2·Talk programs have a Language Installer

Software suitable for whiteboards or touch-sensitive monitors has a Cursor Switch

Network Administrators can find more help here (RESOURCE/Help > Administrator' Guide).

The About box: CONTROL + F1

From the title screen or main menu screen, type CONTROL + F1 to open the About box. This will show you:

Our contact details

Your licence details

Your serial number

You can change your serial number at any time (provided you have Administrator rights) and your licence details will be updated immediately.

The Configurations Editor: CONTROL + F2

For those who are a bit wary of altering software:

'I was extremely impressed at how easy it was to alter the settings on Pond, to cater for a whole range of learning needs.

'Using the Ctrl and F2 buttons immediately allows access to a suite of settings that can alter background intensity, the number of rounds needed to complete, the input device (switch, keyboard, mouse), maximum number to count to, which activity each button selects and which language is spoken or repeated, amongst others.

'The title screen presents six buttons, which can have their own activities and separate configurations.

'Within a few minutes I was able to tailor six different levels of activity. For children who require help with concentration, I was able to select a counting activity with non-moving characters, I could fade the background completely so only the characters were visible.'

All Resource software can be adjusted to meet the needs of individuals or groups by using the Configurations editor. All software from Resource Education has a Configurations editor. When you are on the title screen or main menu screen of any program, press CONTROL + F2 to open the Configurations editor.

Some titles have a single Configuration: all users must share the setup.

Our newer programs have a number of Configurations, usually identified by six buttons:

Configuration icon flower Configuration icon bee Configuration icon bird Configuration icon worm Configuratiojn icon toadstool Configuration icon snail

When you press CONTROL + F2, you will be shown the Configurations editor in a screen that looks similar to this one from Moles.

Remember that networked users all share the same set of Configurations. Under these circumstances, teachers could use Configuratons as personal settings.

The Cursor Switch: CONTROL + F5

In most cases, a cursor is not required on a whiteboard or touch-sensitive monitor and the larger cursors used in a number of our titles can be intrusive.

Press CONTROL + F5 at any time to turn the cursor off or on.

This is a new feature that we are adding when we can and may not be available to all programs.
