Baby, mother and grandmother were all born on the same day, defying the odds 50 million to one

A baby girl was born on the same day as her mother and grandmother – defying the odds 50 million to one.

Harper Taylor, from Birmingham, West Midlands, was born on February 8 this year, joining her mother Evie Berry, 26, and grandmother Jacqui Berry, 59, who both share the same birthday.

Evie was due to give birth in January but ended up induced on February 4, with her baby girl waiting to arrive on the special day.

Evie, a phone saleswoman, revealed: ‘I still can’t figure it out. This wasn’t how I had planned to spend my birthday – but we have so many wonderful birthdays to look forward to together now!”

Evie Berry, 26, from Birmingham, and her mother Jacqui Berry, 55, were stunned when she gave birth to daughter Harper Taylor on February 8 this year, meaning all three generations share the same birthday .

Business owner Jacqui was celebrating her 29th birthday when she gave birth to her daughter Evie, now 26.

It meant she had to give up her own birthday celebrations for a few years so her baby girl could take center stage on their special day.

But she insists it was “so worth it” to see the joy on his face.

William Hill claims that the odds of three members of the same family having the same birthday are 50 million to one.

A spokesperson said: ‘It’s amazing. We would put the odds in the order of 50 million to one for three generations of the same family sharing a birthday.

Grandmother Jacqui and her partner Andy Brownhill, 55, moved from Birmingham to Dumfries, Scotland 10 years ago but it has become a birthday tradition for Evie to travel up north for the occasion to spend it with the family.

A few of their “big anniversaries” even fell in the same year, with the couple turning 50 and 21 in 2015.

“Andy took us both out for a surprise birthday meal at a fancy restaurant to celebrate that year,” Evie said. “We both got dressed and ate an amazing steak and a few glasses of wine.

“We’ve never had a big party or anything, mostly because we want to hang out together as we live further apart now.”

The mother and daughter duo have always been close, having shared a love of horse riding since Evie was young.

Despite the geographical distance between Dumfries and Birmingham, they speak to each other every day and believe that one of the reasons they are so close is their shared birthday.

“We do a lot of FaceTime so mom can see the girls,” said Evie, who has daughter Georgia, two. “Georgia loves showing off her nanny on camera – it’s a great way for her to watch them grow despite being 250 miles away.”

Evie’s first daughter, Georgia, two, was born on September 7, 2017 and was thrilled in the summer of 2019 to learn that her mother was having another baby.

When Evie and her partner Josh Taylor, 29, told the rest of the family they were expecting, no one did the math to determine Evie’s due date.

In fact, it was supposed to be January 9 – almost a whole month before her baby was due.

But the due date came and went, and only then did the family begin to think about the possibility of the baby arriving on Jacqui and Evie’s birthday.

“To begin with, I was so sick of being pregnant,” Evie said. “I was so fat – my body had had enough, and I just wanted her to come and be over.

“But while waiting to be induced, I was happy that we could share the same birthday, and it wouldn’t be such a bad thing if it lasted a little longer.”

Doctors decided to induce Evie on February 4, which seemed to dash any hopes that her baby would arrive on her birthday.

By then Jacqui had traveled down from Scotland to support her daughter on the arrival of her second child and look after Georgia.

The close-knit family just wanted the baby to be healthy, but that didn’t stop them from betting on when the newest would arrive.

“I’m not normally a gambler,” said Andy, Evie’s stepfather. “But I wish I had gone to the bookies and bet on this one!”

When Evie woke up on her birthday at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, doctors told her ‘enough was enough’ and it was time to artificially break her waters to push the pregnancy forward.

Evie was thrilled when her second baby girl, Harper, arrived at 6.48pm, weighing 7lbs 8oz.

The little one remained in hospital for 10 days under observation, but is now home with her family and brings a smile to everyone who meets her.

Evie said: Now I can understand how my mum must have felt having me. I don’t think anyone would choose to be in labor on their birthday – but I wouldn’t change that for the world.

They plan to throw a big party next year to celebrate the first anniversary they will share together.

“Next year will be a big party,” Evie said. “Harper’s 1st birthday and our first chance to celebrate together, the three of us.”

Evie is thrilled to share the same bond with her baby girl that she shared with her mother, but won’t forget to mention what it meant to Harper to be born on her mother’s birthday.

“When she’s old enough to understand, I’ll always remind her of the hell of a lot of pain I went through to give birth to her on my birthday,” Evie joked.

Meanwhile, Jacqui said, “Evie is getting a taste of her own medicine now!”
