H3VR Alpha update adds climbing to the grappling hook

Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grandes (H3VR) is testing out a grapple and a new gigantic level for its popular grip and hold mode.

The new update has arrived in a alpha test channel on Steam and you can consult developer Anton Hand of RUST LTD. by previewing the new features in his Developer Diary below. For those unfamiliar with it, H3VR has been in development for over five years with constant updates expanding its physical playgrounds focused on a growing collection of guns and accessories. The title never goes on sale, has maintained its price of $ 19.99 throughout its Early Access development, and has over 11,000 reviews with an overwhelmingly positive rating. For some people, this is the only game they play and the reason to buy a VR headset.

With the grapple update, Hand and the small team at RUST LTD. are starting to explore a new system of locomotion for its title that could open up many new ways to play. Take and hold mode allows players to “grab and defend random parts of maze-like environments while buying, selling and modifying their equipment,” as Hand describes.

The grapple is also joined by climbing axes that can help players navigate cliff faces and “other vertical features in rough terrain” on the square mile of its new level, “North Dakota”. Update 99 also includes “new game modifiers, with challenges for high-level veterans and novice players,” according to Hand.

H3VR Game owners can access the new alpha version by right-clicking the game in Steam and following the steps below:

  • Go to Properties
  • Click on Beta
  • Click on the drop-down list
  • Select TakeAndHoldAlpha!
