SCCL prepares to ramp up production

With the aim of exceeding the annual coal production target in the current fiscal year, the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has put in place an action plan to increase coal production by making optimum use of the advanced technologies like continuous miners to produce around 330 lakh tonnes of coal by March 31, 2022.

Compared to the stipulated production target of 680 lakh tonnes (68 million tonnes) for 2021-2022, the government coal mining giant has produced 352 lakh tonnes of coal in the past seven months ending in October. of this exercise, SCCL sources said.

The SCCL recorded a 60% growth in its coal production compared to the same period last year.

Coal production during the corresponding period of the previous year was a meager 220 lakh tons. Much of this is due to the disruption in charcoal production caused by the COVID-19 pandemic last year.

About 367 lakh tonnes of coal have been transported by the company in the past seven months, registering 68% growth on the coal shipments front and ensuring an uninterrupted supply of coal to thermal power plants in accordance with fuel supply agreements. (FSA), SCCL sources said.

The SCCL has implemented an action plan to increase coal production and ship by area to SCCL coal deposits over the next five months to exceed the annual production target.

The action plan envisages maximizing the use of modern machinery such as the remote controlled continuous miners currently installed in the PVK-5 slope and the underground coal mines of Kondapuram in the Bhadradri-Kothagudem district and the GDK-11 slope and Vakilpalli underground coal mines in Peddapalli district.

Particular attention was paid to improving coal production in the long-scale Adriyala project, considered the largest mechanized underground mine in the country, in the district of Peddapalli, in order to help achieve productivity maximum in compliance with safety standards.

SCCL President and CEO N Sridhar recently reviewed the action plan with SCCL directors and CEOs of 11 areas of the company via video conference from the Singareni Bhavan in Hyderabad.

Outlining strategies to increase coal production and shipments, he called on all Singarenes to work diligently to catapult the company to exceed the set targets for coal production and shipments by the end of this fiscal year. .

He highlighted the points of interest listed in the action plan, such as ensuring the shipment of coal to the tune of 2.05 lakh tons per day and increasing production to produce 330 lakh tons of coal during the remaining period of the current fiscal year to exceed the overall annual budget. output target.
