The Center will hold a multi-stakeholder meeting on January 30 before the Union budget

New Delhi, the Modi government convened a multi-stakeholder meeting on January 30 to hold discussions before the presentation of the Union Budget in Parliament February 1.

The Center invited the leaders of all political parties from both Houses to the proposed meeting which is expected to start at 11:30 am via video conference. Sources said the National Democratic Alliance the parties will also meet on the same day.

Parliament’s budget session will be held in two phases amid all coronavirus precautions – January 29 to February 15 and March 8 to April 8.

The multi-stakeholder meeting will be chaired by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and in the presence of the Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh, Minister of the Interior Amit Shah, BJP Chief Rajya Sabha Thawarchand Gehlot, Deputy Chief Piyush Goyal, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi, Arjun Ram Meghwal and V Muralitharan.

The hour-long question time was reinstated in the budget session, which was suspended during the monsoon session in September 2020 during the corona pandemic.

Lok Sabha Chairman Om Birla said on Tuesday that corona testing for members attending the Parliament session would be mandatory.
