The story of two dowry deaths in Bangalore

Two women who coincidentally got married on the same day met the same tragic fate.

In the first case, a 27-year-old woman who was married four months ago was found hanging from the ceiling of her home in Subramanyanagar on Saturday night.

The police sentenced Sagar to death for dowry and are looking for him.

IBhuvana’s father Nagaraja S told police his daughter was chasing her MCA in a college in Mariyappanapalya when she fell in love with Sagar. “Although we were against Bhuvana’s decision to marry Sagar, she was adamant and we gave in,” Nagaraja said.

The couple were married in a temple in Nanjangud on August 28, 2020 and started living in a rented house in Laggere, after which Bhuvana joined as a technician in a multinational company while Sagar was jobless. “Sagar was literally living off his wife’s earnings. He started taking loans and asked Bhuvana to bring silver and gold ornaments from her house. He started beating her because she was not bringing any dowry from her house,” he added.
